Vultures have been venerated birds through out history. They were deities to the Egyptians.

Here the road kill mostly goes to the crows and ravens. But the turkey vultures are regularly overhead. I assume that they’re eating in the woods. I can’t seem to help stopping for a moment and just marveling at their soaring.

At my visit to Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, our guide had just threw a large container of entrails onto the ground at what they called the “Vulture Restaurant”. There were hundreds of vultures descending upon the meat and bones, it was quite a feeding frenzy to observe.

Nice idea to create awareness about a bird on the verge of extinction. Widespread bird as it was earlier, we hardly see any vulture now except for some special areas.

We can donate some vultures to anyone who wants them, they have no trouble living off the road kill here.
