On the face of it, it is a tribute to Benazir. But if we probe the motives, I think we can find some ulterior stuff. It may be another attempt to reinforce the notion that Sind’s daughter was a true heroine and if the holiday is accepted throughout the country, it may lead to many more questions: what is the criterion for becoming a hero/heroine; is it assassination? If so, what about Ziaul Haq and many others? But let’s stay simple and call it a tribute, so to say.
