The Unites States has accused Pakistan of illegally making modification to US-made missiles so as to use it against India, says a post in the New York Times. Pakistan’s foreign office has denied the allegation and commented that the accusation was another attempt to malign its armed forces. 
The article published in New York Time’s Sunday edition accused Pakistan of illegally altering US-made missiles in order to expand their hitting ability to land-based targets, posing a potential threat to India. This charge is being said to have added to the increasing Pak-US tension over the issue of arm production and development of nuclear weapons. The NYT’s article has also referred to a an unpublicized protest to Pakistani premier Yousaf Raza Gilani and other high officials.
Pakistan’s foreign ofce, meanwhile, has denied the accusation and called it another attempt to malign the country’s army. Pakistan’s ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani, called the allegation as based on wrong intelligence. He said that the said missiles were sold to Pakistan for defense only.
