The heinous monster of terrorism is raging intolerably with the town of Charsadda as its latest victim. At least 34 people were killed and over one hundred wounded after an explosive-laden car went boom in a bust shopping street in Farooq-e-Azam Chowk on Tuesday afternoon.
The powerful blast shook the whole area, shattering window panes of the buildings in the neighborhood and precipitating intense fear. Eyewitnesses reported the incident as mutilation of humanity all around the scene. The blast swept through the throngs of people busy in shopping. The coming Eid festival has thus been turned into mourning processions already.
The wounded were rushed to hospitals in Charsadda and Peshawar and hospitals declared a state of emergency. News sources report that the explosion was made by using about 60 kilograms of explosives. Some sources regard the attack as targeted against the ruling Awami National Party (ANP) which enjoys great public support in Charsadda. The political leadership of the country has strongly condemned the attack.
