The first blast targeted the cafeteria of the female students at lunch time, killing four people including two female students. The second blast followed a couple of minutes later and it targeted the Sharia Block, which includes departments of Arabic and Islamic studies, law, and literature, killing two persons and injuring several others. The police arrested a few suspicious people near the varsity.

The heart-rending scene is reported to be human legs, cut off by the power explosions, being brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Besides mourning the tragedy, public also displayed its anger when the Interior Minister Rehman Malik arrived at the scene of the blast. Angry students, questioning the government’s efficacy in protecting the lives of citizens, threw stones at Mr. Malik, who had to be escorted by the guard out of the place without talking to the media people there.

As of now, all educational institutions in the country have been announced closed due to security concerns while no one has claimed the responsibility for the attacks.

History is full of attacks on intellectuals, sometimes because of religion, but most often to promote the power of an uneducated dictator or warlord.

There's a great quote from the movie "The Last Emperor", something like: "Yes, many heads have been chopped off. It does keep them from thinking."

They are desperate. They have lost public support. They have lost ISI support. They are short on funds and recruits. And they are losing territory on a daily basis. And they are on the verge of losing their last and final stronghold.
They are like a cornered beast. It's a matter of time before they become just another criminal gang.

Wasn't the Obama Administration talking about letting the Taliban have a future in the Afghanistan government just a couple of weeks ago?

Oh the irony! Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and several other's all created and supported these radical islamists for the sole purpose of fighting proxy wars with the west.

Now these radicals are tuning on their masters.
