The prevailing law and order situation and terrorism in the country have caused a notable rise in the sale of security gadgets. Homes, offices, hotels, and shops are getting equipped with recording cameras, night vision cameras, and sophisticated sensors. The sale of security items is particularly higher in Rawalpindi, twin city to the federal capital Islamabad, where crime incidence has grown beyond bounds over the past several months.

The electronics markets in Rawalpindi and Islamabad are making good profit from the sale of close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, night vision cameras, and motion sensors. These gadgets are selling to the public at a price ranging from of 25000 to 150, 000 rupees per item. Jewelers are reportedly the most ardent customers of spy cameras while car owners are greatly interested in buying motion sensors – gadgets usually found effective against car theft.
CCTV cameras are becoming popular for watching any suspicious activity/people around houses, shops, hotels and restaurants, and car showrooms. Most of these security gadgets come as imported stuff from Korea, Taiwan, and China and are already used in banks, international firms, premises of security companies, and law enforcement agencies.
