Sami El Haj, a Sudanese journalist arrested in Pakistan and detained at Guantanamo Bay, says he will file a criminal case against Pakistan’s ex-President Pervez Musharraf as the latter got him arrested illegally. Sami wants Musharraf behind bars since he regards the general responsible for his arrest.
Sami is a journalist for Al-Jazeera and he told media that he was arrested in Pakistan in December 2001, near Iran’s border despite showing valid travel documents. This arrest led to his six years in Guantanamo Bay prison on the false allegations of links with Al-Qaeda. And for this, Sami holds Musharraf responsible. Sami was also tortured in the prison and now he wants to see Musharraf in jail.
According to newspaper sources, Sami will be filing a criminal case against Pervez Musharraf in London. He also blamed Musharraf for selling his nation’s people to the US in order to earn money. He says Musharraf admitted it in his book too. Sami says that he will wait for the day when Musharraf is sent behind bars.
