Morals and manners were thrown aside in session of the Punjab Assembly, on Monday June 29, as male and female parliamentarians from different political parties engaged in physical scuffle while also exchanging profanities. Parliamentarians also flung books, files, and other objects at one another, making the scene of a free-style rumble.

According to newspaper sources, the session of the Punjab Assembly was called for approving the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2008-09. On a point, government assembly members engaged in exchanging bitter words with opposition members. In the meantime, opposition member Bushra Gurdezi waved a placard in the hall that read ‘Punjabi Industrialist, Punjab’s Traitor, Punjab’s Chief Minister’. This enraged the provincial government members and the Provincial Minister for Prisons Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor leapt over the chairs, reached Bushra Gurdezi and tried to snatch the placard from her. She resisted and engaged in a scuffle with him.
The situation went out of control in no time and everyone took to flinging objects at the opponents, shouting profanities, and physically attacking the opponents without any consideration for gender or age. The speaker of the assembly kept shouting for bringing order but in vain. Later, opposition members walked out of the assembly hall in protest.
