In a horrific incident of brutality, militants in the Otmankhel area of Lower Orakzai Agency opened firing on high school students early in the morning while the students were walking their way to their school. The firing killed four students and injured three others who were rushed to the nearby hospital. Security forces and local tribesmen retaliated soon and claimed to have killed seven militants in the vindictive attacks following the killing of students.

The shocking news of the students’ death spread like fire in the chain of nearby villages and the local resistance-fighter group – the Qaumi Lashkar – attacked the hideouts of the militants from different sides. The security forces in the area also moved into action and bombed the militant hideouts. These retaliatory attacks left 7 militants dead while also demolishing their places of shelter. The incident of killing school-going kids is one of the few brutal ones that have happened in the agency since the war on terror has been launched.
