It looks like Pakistan’s ex-president Pervez Musharraf’s tongue is dragging Pakistan to a renewed conflict with traditional rival India. This is the case with a recent statement of Musharraf that Pakistan used US aid, meant for war on terror, to reinforce military defenses against India.
India’s Minister if External Affairs SM Krishna has taken notice of the statement and has told media that India will raise the issue before the US Secretary of State Mrs. Hillary Clinton, whom he expects to see next week.
Krishan said that India had already expressed its concerns over US aid to Pakistan, especially the military aid for war on terror, and Washington must make sure that the aid it gives Pakistan is used in combating terrorism only. For this, the US needs to closely monitor its aid given to Pakistan. Krishan also expressed the possibility of discussing the issue of terrorism with Pakistan.
