A loud blast was heard in the evening in Hangu at around 7 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2009. The blast took place near Sabzi Mandi (Vegetable Market) in the main market of Hangu city and damaged 8 shops situated opposite the market area for vegetables and fruit.

There are no reports of any harm to human life as a result of the blast but the glass panes of nearby shops and houses were shattered. The blast was made by an estimated 10 kg of explosives placed near a sewage channel that runs in front of the shops. No one has accepted any responsibility for the blast.
