Feral children are long known to display animal behavior but here is a case of a five-year-old Russian girl who has been raised in a city but who barks and behaves like a dog. Living with some relatives in a shabby apartment in the city of Chita (Eastern Siberia), this girl’s behavior sounds like a case of extreme neglect from the human relatives who have allowed the child to live all her time among the many dogs and cats that inhabit the apartment.

The girl was found by the Russian Child Protection officers who found that the girl barked like a dog and lived comfortably among the dogs and cats in the apartment. She appears to have never gone outdoors and can’t speak the human language but tries to communicate via barking. The officials reported that the girl threw herself at them like a little dog. She could understand Russian but could not speak any. She has been placed in a caring facility where medical and psychiatric help is being provided to bring her up as a human child.

However, the child continues to jump against the door and bark when her caregivers leave the room. It appears that she has mastered the dog language. The police are planning to start a case of criminal investigation for abuse against the human kin of the child.
