Pakistan’s star all rounder Shahid Afridi is not going to play test cricket till 2011; instead, he will focus on playing well in One-day international matches and the shorter T20 cricket. Afridi has told the UK-based website PakPassion.net that he was stepping out to focus on one-day cricket because he has been ignored by the selectors for test series in the past while he made himself available.
Afridi made it clear that he was not having any injuries but his decision to leave test cricket for a while rested solely on his busyness with one-day cricket. Commenting on the leg before decision by Simon Taufel in the semi-final match of the Champions Trophy, Afridi said that players as well as umpires were liable to err and he had no regrets now, although it felt bad at that time.
As Pakistan is warming up to play a series against New Zealand, and Afridi sees both teams as evenly matched. To him, those who play the best cricket will bag the victory.
